A lot of things are motivated by other means, however religion (along with sin and guilt) is a very fundamental and useful tool.

It is also interesting to note that this is why the Catholic church prospered as much as it did -- Protestants believe that everybody lives in grace, so it&#039;s a tad hard for you to leverage sin and guilt. On the other hand, Catholics believe that everyone lives in sin, so it&#039;s quite easy to manipulate this belief into other things.</description>
